FUTURE DESIGN IMPACT
We use human-centred design principles to explore the process of implementing meaningful change, moving beyond traditional top-down approaches. We delve into the nuanced dynamics of power relations across different organizational levels, with the insights needed to navigate and drive transformational change effectively in a complex and often challenging environment.

ENERGYBANK
The flow of money can fuel the energy revolution. However, not all banks are capable of turning it on. Energybank partners with hyper local communities and renewable energy companies to make it happen..
CASE #1
PLASTICS
If Australia wants to arrive at a greener future, at some point on the journey we need to reckon with a major waste issue - plastics
CASE #2
HOMEFULL
For many people, the process of accessing housing support can be traumatic. Accessing support from multiple agencies is a fraught and precarious process.
CASE #3
TEAM FORMATION
Design teams bring together the expertise and perspectives to drive change. As Zaana notes in this piece, we work with the people and conditions we have. Optimising both is an art.
WEEK 3
EVALULATIVE PRACTICES
Evaluation is undergoing a shift in what is evaluated. Moving beyond a summative process of measuring, towards an iterative learning method to produce ongoing innovation.

WEEK 4
MEANINGFUL CHANGE
As Zaana notes in this session, change can be designed to provide designers ways to know what the implications and and ways to include all participants.
WEEK 9
IMPACT COURSE STRUCTURE
Future Design Impact operates differently to the other courses in the program. We use teaching cases as the basis for the exploration of how human-centred design can provide an alternative to the conventional top-down change process.. Teaching cases are open narratives, based on industry experience, which give sopace for deeper discourse.
We are looking to innovate the process of change, evaluation and impact assessment.
Select one of the cases, based on your own interests or sector (corporate, government or NFP). Or, alternatively select one that gives you the opportuity to work on a specific area of interest.
For example, if you work in government, you might gravitate to Plastics, which is set in a government health system, with typical public sector culture and protocols, such as the authorising committee.
Alternatively, you might prefer to work on the economic aspects of sustainability represented in Energybank and the rural, community renewable energy operations.
Use this as an opportunity to research the field represented in the case, as well as the new thinking in aspects of the change process.
